Srinagar Jan 17: Police arrested three drug peddlers in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today and recovered 3 kilogrammes of charas and one kilogramme Bhuki.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, Shamsheer Hussain, told Excelsior that based on a specific input special team of District Police Kupwara today recovered 3 kgs charas, one kg Bhuki, seven CSD canteen cards and other items from Kupwara town and Drugmulla area of the district.
The SSP said that three notorious drug peddlers of psychotropic substances have been arrested along with contraband consignment. He identified the arrested persons as Faisal Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Anderhama, Drugmulla, Mohammad Ramzan Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar of Chack Drugmulla and Fayaz Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Rasool Mir of Faqir Pora Drugmulla.
Hussain said that case under NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is in progress. “More arrests are expected so as to bust the whole racket involved in sale of banned drugs and psychotropic substances which are involving the youth of the area”, he said.
“From the possession of one of the accused Faisal Ahmad Mir the team has recovered seven CSD canteen cards. During investigation it also revealed that the accused used to sell the CSD items to local shopkeepers after purchasing the same from CSD canteens by using these cards”, he said.
The SSP said that during last three months the special team of the Police has recovered large quantity of banned drugs and arrested 10 drug peddlers, sellers of banned drugs.
