BHADERWAH, Aug 26: Three-day annual holy Mela Patt, devoted to Lord Vasuki Naag, the presiding deity of Bhaderwah valley, began here today.
The Mela is organized on the conclusion of the Kailash Yatra and people irrespective of any caste, color and creed participate in the annual festival.  People dance to the sweet and melodious tunes of ancient Dakhu. This traditional Dhaku dance, a unique folk dance of the area, is a regular feature during the Mela.
Elaborate arrangements have been made by the civil and police administration for peaceful and smooth conduct of the Mela.
This Mela was first initiated by Raja Nagpal in 16th centuary as the ruler of small principality then called Bhaderkash, which is now known as Bhaderwah. The royal robbing that was presented by Emperor  Akbar to Raja Nagpal of Bhaderwah in his honour,  is displayed during three day long ‘Mela Patt’.
