3 bookies arrested with stake money, gadgets

JAMMU, Mar 28: Police arrested three bookies along with stake money and gadgets including 9 mobile phones from Nanak Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station conducted raid in a public place at Nanak Nagar and arrested three bookies, who were betting on cricket match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
The accused have been identified as Ashish Gupta alias Ashu, son of Subash Gupta of Nanak Nagar, Neeraj alias Noora, son of Harbans Lal of Nai Basti and Nikhil, son of Surinder Bakshi of Talab Tillo.
Police recovered stake money of Rs 26,200, one computer notebook, 9 mobile phones and one laptop from the accused.
A case under Gambling Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SI Tariq Ahmed and SI Vicky Thapa made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Sambyal, SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
