2nd phase of Himalayan Trekking Prog in Oct-Nov

JAMMU, Sept 17: Tawi Trekkers J&K, the Premier Trekking Organization of J&K, will organize the 2nd phase of Himalayan Trekking Programme-2018 by conducting a number of Heritage treks for school students during October-November in Dharamshala area of Himachal Pradesh. The first group wll leave for Dharamshala on October 1, 2018.
During the 4 days venture, the trekkers would visit the world heritage site of Kangra Fort, the largest fort in Himalaya and probably the oldest dated fort in India; the sacred Jwalajee temple, one of the most ancient temples in India; Macleodganj, the seat of His Holiness Dalai Lama; Dharamkot, popularly called mini Israel; Bhagshunath, the beautiful Waterfall, Tapovan, Chamunda, Dharamshala and Nagini besides a visit to the beautiful Dharamshala stadium.
However, the special attraction of the programme is a visit to a sprawling tea garden and a tea manufacturing company to learn about the complete process of production of tea.
The participation fee which includes boarding, lodging, transportation and supervision by expert trekkers from Jammu to Jammu is Rs 3,900.
The purpose of the programmes is to expose young boys and girls to nature and world famous Indian heritage and thereby imbibe in them the spirit of adventure and love and pride for the country and its glorious past.
Six members of the club namely Deepika Dutta, Shilpa Charak, Sunil Chakharia, Vishali Sharma, Anukampa Sharma and Sourav Deep Singh have successfully completed mountaineering courses at JIM, Pahalgam.
