2nd instalment of Rs 2000 cr for DPs good move: JKSAC

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 8: The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has described the demand of another instalment of Rs 2000 crore by State BJP chief as good initiative and said that other components of the package should also be included.
In a meeting of the SAC held here today  Jammu the members pointed out that State BJP chief Ravinder Raina has very  rightly projected  demand of  another instalment of Rs 2000 crore for DP’s of 1947 from PoK and other categories in a meeting with Union Home Minister, Raj Nath Singh at Srinagar.
While appreciating his efforts to present the case for DPs,  Gurdev Singh president JKSAC  apprised  that disbursement of instant packages is being made at  snails pace as only approximately 8000 families/ beneficiaries could get the payment after a lapse of more than one year periods out of 18000 beneficiaries who have been identified for payment after putting very hard efforts by PRO Jammu. There are still more than 1000 beneficiaries who could not get the payment despite of clearing the objections for many times and are still taking the rounds and rounds of Divisional Commissioner office to know the status of their cases that why they are being ignored for payment. He is being apprised that if the speed of payment remains so then the disbursement of this instant package may not going to end in the next three years.
Moreover, the payment is being made in a highly erratic way and not in proper sequence as per the lists appeared in the internet. The matter has been brought many times in the notices of authorities both at State and Centre but things did not improve. It is regretted that because of their insensitive attitude no corrective measure have been taken to streamline the DBT and biometric system through which the payment is made.
Singh said that the Govt has  been approached many times to spell out the contour of  one time settlement but their silence towards the issue particularly lacking clarifications regarding the total quantum of relief, reservations for their wards is becoming a cause of resentment.
