NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said “Hunar Haat”, being organised by his ministry has proved to be an effective campaign to promote master artisans from across the country and provide market-opportunity to them.

Talking to media persons here, Mr Naqvi said the second “Hunar Haat”, organised at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place here from February 11 to 26, not only provided a market opportunity to master artisans, craftsmen and “Bawarchis”, it also gave a strong message of social harmony.

The “Hunar Haat” was a smash hit among the people as more than 26 lakh people, both domestic and foreign visitors, visited this “Hunar Haat”. People not only made purchases worth lakhs of rupees from these artisans but these craftsmen got orders from foreign countries as well.

With the theme “Craft Aur Cuisine Ka Sangam”, the second “Hunar Haat” was unique in the sense that it showcased crafts and traditional cuisines brought from different parts of the country at “Bawarchikhana”. Besides handicrafts and various dishes, the people also enjoyed various cultural programmes, Qawwali, Gazal, “Bhajan”, puppet dance and bioscope. (AGENCIES)
