JAMMU, Jan 2: A meeting to discuss the arrangements for observance of 28th Road Safety Week-2017 was held under the chairmanship of Additional Transport Commissioner, Ajay Singh Jamwal here today.
Among others the meeting was attended by MD JKSRTC, G A Sofi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr Arun Manhas, Joint Controller LMD, V. S Sambyal and Superinten-ding Engineer (R&B) Jammu, Sudheer Shah.
It was informed in the meeting that walkathon from Gulshan Ground on January 9 will mark the start of 28th Road Safety Week followed by slew of weeklong activities .
Regional Transport Officer A.K.Khajuria apprised that Road Safety Awareness camps, driver health checkup camps, cyclothon, painting competitions, and blood donation camps will be the highlights of the week long celebrations.
While discussing the role of various departments, Additional Transport Commissioner impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure synergetic efforts so that the objective of celebrating Road Safety Week is achieved successfully. He also informed the meeting that theme for this year celebration of Road Safety Week is “Your safety, secures your family-Be cautious on Roads”.
Stressing the need to take requisite measures by different departments during the week, Additional Transport Commissioner said that a proactive enforcement drive during the week will underscore the seriousness about safety on the roads.
