26th State level Children’s Science Congress begins at Carmel Convent School

JAMMU, Dec 1: The 26th two-day State level Children’s Science Congress (a program of NCSTC, DST, Delhi) began today at Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani Bye Pass, Jammu.
The Congress was thrown open by Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha in the presence of Sister Maria Swati AC, Principal Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
In his inaugural address, the MP stressed on the importance of science and technology in this modern age and added that such programme can increase the interest of the children to think and act scientifically. He hoped that programme will be beneficial for the students & teacher community.
Sister Maria, in her address, said that the interest of the students in the field of science & research can be boosted up by such an innovative programme.
Earlier Kuldeep Gupta, State Academic Coordinator, NCSC –J&K(J) welcome the chief guests, evaluators and other dignitaries along with child scientists and guide teachers coming from the different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Ashaq Hussain, chairman of organizing committee, gave brief introduction of the programme of NCSC and tips regarding guidelines/evaluation criteria for presentation of the project in this two-day mega event.
About 80 projects drawn from various schools of the State are being presented by the child scientists in these two days having gathering of about 300 students/guide teachers & coordinators. Out of these 80 projects, 16 best projects will participate at National Level being organized from 27th – 31st December at Bhubneshwar (Odhisa).
Prominent among others present were Shabir Ahmed Shabir, State Coordinator NCSC – J&K (Kashmir Province), MY Zagoo, State Academic Coordinator, NCSC – J&K (Kashmir Province), Harpreet Singh, Arshad Hussain, Mehmood and all other district coordinators.
