226 J&K youth join Army

Srinagar, Sept 29: Over 220 youth from Jammu and Kashmir today donned olive uniform and took oath to serve and defend nation at a colorful passing out parade ceremony.
A defence spokesman said 226 young soldiers from J&K passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre at Rangreth on city outskirts.
The passing out parade, depicting graduation of a Recruit and his transformation into a young soldier, was reviewed by Commandant JAKLI Centre Brigadier SG Chavan and was attended by over 1000 parents and relatives of young soldiers from J&K besides number of civil and military dignitaries, the spokesman said.
“The dauntless young soldiers of the Regiment hailing from all regions and religions of the State of J&K, marching in precise unison with a singular aim of devoting their lives in service of their nation, singing their Regimental Song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshnam’, inspired one and all as their voice echoed in the Kashmir valley. Their salute to the Tri-Colour with National Anthem playing inspired patriotic ardour in all present,” said the defence spokesman.
Brigadier Chavan congratulated the young soldiers for their immaculate parade and impressed upon selfless service towards the nation. He praised their contribution towards encouraging more and more youth from J&K to come forward to join the security forces & also highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their wards to join this noble profession.
He said the Army is the best organization in the country “because under this organization we get chance to serve country”. “There is discipline, sports, adventure and physical fitness,” said the Brigadier. The officer when asked about the militant threat to jawans when they go home said: “When our jawans go home, they remain in contact with us on phone…our jawans remain alert.”
