21st State Taekwondo Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Jan 20: J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) today kicked off the 21st Official State Taekwondo Championship under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), which is recognized by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) at Brahman Sabha Parade, here.
Every affiliated District across the State joined the event on opening ceremony. All three regions are taking part in the said championship including some Professional teams AITA (Atul’s International Taekwondo Academy) and SAI-SAG (Sports Authority OF India) Kargil.
“The event aims at the development of this Olympic sport at grass root level across all corners of Jammu and Kashmir State. The Gold medallists of Sub-Junior and Cadet Category will be selected for upcoming Sub-Junior and Cadet National Championship respectively,” Atul said.
The Championship was organized under the supervision of DN Pangotra who is the acting President of Taekwondo Federation of India along with the Vice President J&K Taekwondo Association, Nissar Hussain.
Sarabjeet Singh (In charge Referee, JKTA) started the first match of the Championship.
Shubash Shashtri (President NMC) was the chief guest on the opening ceremony.
Atul Pangotra (referee chairman, TFI was the special guest, while Romesh Chander Sharma (Manager DBPS & Joint Secretary JKTA) was the guest of honour and Kapil Pangotra (Adviisor JKTA) was also present on the occasion.
Later-on, the ceremonial stage was joined Zaheer Abbass Khan (Treasurer JKTA) and Gurinder Rakwal (VP, DTA Jammu).
The closing ceremony will be held tomorrow.
