20th J&K State Taekwondo C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Feb 18: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council organized 20th J&K State (Sub-Junior/Cadet/Junior/ Senior ) Kyorugi/ Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2017-18″ which got underway at Multipurpose Hall MA Stadium, here yesterday evening.
The Championship is being held under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association and India Olympic Association.
Around 800 players/officials drawn from almost from all the districts of the State are taking part in the Championship.
Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman, J&K State Sports Council, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while speaking on the occasion said that the Sports Council should give priority to the medal winning sports disciplines for good health of sports in J&K and for better results. Naveen Kumar, Chief Conservator  was the guest of honour, while DN Pangotra, General Secretary JKTA was the special guest.
Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Complex MA Stadium, Anil Kumar Wadhera (Boxing Coach), S. Surjit Singh (Major) Indian Army,  Ankush Sharma, Vikas Abrol and Varinder Sharma were present on the occasion.
The technical team is being headed by Atul Pangotra (NIS) TFI Chairman Referee Committee along with his team of officials including Brinder Singh Manhas, Sarbjeet Singh, Anu Priya, Rahul Verma, Zaheer Abass, Chand Mohd, Mohd Ali, Safdar Ali, Anil Singh Parihar, Nirender Sharma, Bilal Majid, Sourav Sharma, Arvind Satti, Amit Kumar, Lalita, Sunil Vaid and Bazila Mushtaq Dar.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Rajinder Singh.
