REASI, Feb 26: A total of 203105 pilgrims from various places paid obeisance at the holy cave during three-day Shiv Khori Mela, thus recording highest ever number since the organizing of this pious festival.
In the previous year, 152793 devotees were recorded for three day festival and near about 14 lakhs pilgrims visited the holy shrine throughout the year.
As per the report of Executive Officer Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB), Om Parkash, total yatra for this year from 1st of January to 25th February was 306660 and 50 percent increase may be expected in the current year.
The increase in pilgrims is mainly due to launching of live telecast of Aarti from inside the cave, in which everyone seems very enthusiastic to participate. The three- day Mela witnessed very heavy rush of devotees from Ransoo, the base camp of shrine to the main cave and inside the cave too. The whole track remained packed.
Reportedly, the highest ever pilgrimage was in the year 2012, which was 19.42 lakhs and lowest one was 2.39 lakhs in the 2004.
