2 washed away, woman dies as tree falls

JAMMU, June 30:  Two persons including an SPO were washed away in flood incidents in Poonch and Khour while a woman was killed after a tree fell on her temporary shelter in Kishtwar area last evening.
A police spokesman said that one Harbans Lal (45 yrs), son of Sain Dass, R/o Pail Jogwan, was washed away in flash floods in Manawar Tawi  in upper reaches of Khour near his house late last evening. He was returning home carrying bundle of woods on his head.  The water level went on increasing when he was crossing the river and was washed away.  His body was recovered after long search by locals and police.

Reports from Poonch said that 22-year-old SPO, Anzar Ahmed, son of Talib Hussain, resident of Fagla in Surankote was washed away in Suran river late last evening. His dead body was found trapped in boulders by a villager and he informed police.
His identity could be established this morning. The incident took place when he was returning home from Surankote. The police after performing legal formalities handed over the body to the family for last rites.
Meanwhile, a woman, identified as Jameela, was killed when a tree got uprooted due to heavy rains and fell on her temporary shelter at Kalamasather Dhar, in Kishtwar district, a police official said.
Her minor daughter was also injured in the incident and was shifted to  hospital.
