2 vehicle lifters arrested, stolen cars recovered

JAMMU, Jan 10: Sainik Colony police arrested two vehicle lifters and recovered three stolen cars from their possession.
As per police sources, on December 14 last year, a complaint was lodged by a lady namely Gita Sharma, daughter of KK Sharma, a resident of Sainik Colony with Police Post Sainik Colony stating that some unknown persons have stolen her Maruti car.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 144/17 under Section 379 RPC with Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, Anti Vehicle Theft and Recovery (AVTAR) team of Police Post Sainik Colony rounded up two suspects, who during questioning broke down and confessed their involvement in the theft case. They also revealed their involvement in two more vehicle theft cases.
The suspects were arrested and on their disclosure, three cars, which they had stolen Sainik Colony, Bhatindi and Udhampur were recovered.
The arrested persons have been identified as Simraan Khan, son of Bashir Ahmed of Udhampur and Bannu Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Kotli Udhampur.
The accused use to drive these stolen cars on fake registration numbers and also try to sell the stolen cars to the gullible people.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by Incharge Sainik Colony Police Post SI Balram Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Channi Himmat Inspector Sajjad Mir, SDPO East Arun Jamwal and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
