2 shops gutted, shopkeeper dies of heart attack

POONCH, Dec 5: Two shops were completely destroyed in major fire in the old market area of Poonch town last night while the owner of adjoining shop died of heart attack.
Reports said that due to short -circuit,  the fire broke out in the bakery shop of one Ashok Kumar, son of  Kirpa Ram of Poonch at around 10 pm. The fire flames  engulfed  adjoining Halwai shop, belonging to one  Chain Singh. The incident took place near Kalka Mandir market and a large number of people rushed towards the site for rescue.
They started dousing the fire.   A shopkeeper, Mintu Malhotra was told by some body that his adjoining cosmetic shop has  also caught  fire and he rushed  from his house towards the  shop in panic. Due to heart attack, he collapsed on the ground and then was rushed to hospital. Later,  he was declared as dead.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the site of incident but due to narrow road  in the market,  the vehicles  could not reach up the site. Then with the help of long pipes, the firemen started fire fighting operation.  It  took about two hours to  them  to control the fire.  The loss of property was being assessed.
