2 Punjab residents arrested with poppy straw

UDHAMPUR, June 5: Continuing its drive against drug smuggling, police arrested two Punjab residents along with 20 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Udhampur Police Station laid a naka at Jakheni and intercepted a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB06L-2434.
During checking, police recovered 20 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Paramjeet Singh, son of Harbans Singh and Kuljeet Singh, son of late Surinder Singh, both residents of district Pathankot, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 245/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Udhampur Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary and assisted by SI Bupesh Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Kulbir Handa and Additional SP Udhampur Faisel Qureshi.
