Srinagar, Sept 17: Army today killed two infiltrating militants in an encounter near the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil Sector of Kashmir valley.
An Army spokesman said here that in the wee hours today, “two unknown terrorists were killed in Macchil Sector in an encounter with troops.”
“Two AK-47 rifles and one UBGL along with other war-like stores were recovered from the site”, said the spokesman.
Sources said that these militants were spotted early in the morning in forest area. “When challenged, they opened fire on the Army leading to an encounter”, sources added.
The spokesman said: “In spite of heavy involvement of Army in relief and rescue operations, the troops deployed on Line of Control area vigilant.”
The spokesman said the operation in Macchil sector is still in progress and further details are awaited.
This is second encounter during past one week. Army killed 3 militants in an encounter near the LoC in Keran sector of Kupwara.
