2 killed in Doda mishap

DODA, May 15: A senior pharmacist posted at District Hospital Doda was among two persons killed, while another received injuries when the Alto car they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Suigawri area on the Batote-Kishtwar highway, here this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-4741 was on its way from Shararna Shiva to District Doda, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into 150 meter deep gorge near Suigawri, resulting into on the spot death of two persons including a senior pharmacist posted at District Hospital Doda and serious head injuries to another.
After getting information, police team along with locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured person to District Hospital Doda, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where he was undergoing treatment, when reports last came in.
The bodies of the two deceased persons were also retrieved from the gorge by police and locals and shifted to District Hospital for autopsy.
The deceased have been identified as Rishi Kumar (senior pharmacist posted at DH Doda), son of Shadi Lal and Surjeet Kumar, son of Mool Raj, while the injured has been identified as Ajeet Kumar, son of Pana Lal, all residents of Shararna Shiva.
“The cause of accident is not known yet as we are investigating the matter. As of now, the bodies of deceased have been handed over to their relatives after completing medical and legal formalities”, a senior police officer said, adding that one of the injured admitted in GMCH Jammu is responding to the treatment.
A case under relevant Section has been registered at Doda police station and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind this accident.
