2 drug-peddlers nabbed with heroin at Thannamandi

RAJOURI, Sept 29: As a part of its continuous drive against the drug-smuggling, the  Police arrested two more drug-peddlers and recovered some quantity of heroin from their possession in Thannamandi area today.
Giving detail, a police spokesman said that  during naka on Rajouri-Thannamandi road,  the police party from Thannamandi  intercepted a  Motorcycle (Pulsar) No. JK-11/6439 and detained two persons for frisking. The police party recovered about 35 gms of heroin from their possession. They were arrested  and their bike was also seized by police.
They were identified as Mohd Imran, son of Mohd Shafeeq, resident of Darhali, Rajouri and Raja Attar Mirza, son of Mohib- ul- Hassan, resident of Rajouri.
The police registered a case FIR No. 129/2017 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station, Thannamandi against them. Further investigation was in progress.
The police said more arrests are expected in this connection as some vital clues have been established. It said about eighteen  notorious  drug- peddlers were arrested in Thanamandi area during recent past  by police  and from their possession heroine and cannabis (Charas Chhalis)  were recovered and subsequently cases were registered against them under the relevant sections of law.
The drive against this menace is continued under the supervision SDPO Thannamandi  Iftikhar Choudhary   and Additional SP Mohd Yousaf, under the directions of SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas, the  spokesman added.
