2 drug peddlers arrested with heroin worth Rs 1.80 lakh

JAMMU, Feb 27: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested two drug peddlers and recovered heroin  worth Rs 1.80 lakh from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka at T Chowk in Preet Nagar and intercepted a bullet motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BM-3594.
During checking, police recovered 3 grams of heroin worth Rs 30,000 from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar alias Munna, son of Balwan Singh, a resident of Rani Talab Digiana Jammu.
Meanwhile, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station also raised a checking point at Valmiki Chowk and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but the cops nabbed him after a brief chase.
During frisking, police recovered 15 grams heroin worth Rs 1.50 lakh from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Amrik Singh, son of Satnarn Singh, a resident of Bandurakh Kunjwani Jammu.
Cases under FIR Numbers 50/18 and 51/18 under Section Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Digiana Police Post SI Sandeep Chauhan and ASI Shesh Pal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
