POONCH, Oct 4: A middle -aged woman and a young girl were electrocuted while two others received serious injuries in lightning incident in the higher reaches of Mandi tehsil today.
Official sources said that it was raining with thunder storm in the higher reaches of Arai area in Loran- Mandi. A nomad family had gone to the Dhok in the higher reaches of Arai along with their cattle. Suddenly amidst thunderstorm, a strong beam of light from the sky hit the four members, killing two of them on the spot and causing injuries to the two others.
The deceased were identified as 38-year-old Sayeda Begum, wife of Mohd Shabir and Tanveer Akhtar (18), daughter of Mohd Latief from Arai village. The two injured, Ghulam Hussain, son of Jia Bakerwal (65) and Kouser Bano (13), were removed to Mandi hospital and later to District Hospital, Poonch.
