2-day seminar on Dinu Bhai Pant organized

JAMMU, June 17: A two day seminar on “Dinu Bhai Birth Centenary” was organised by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today at Abhinav Theatre.
Prof Vishvanath Prasad Tiwari, President Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi presided, Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma was the chief guest and Dr Manoj was guest of honour. Prof Lalit Magotra, Convenor Dogri, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Devendra Devesh, OSD, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi were also present in the presidium.
In his presidential address, Prof Tiwari said that using language as medium, a writer writes for masses and tries to portray what a common man could not see and realize the unfavorable happenings in the society and Dinu Bhai Pant did in his literature in an impressive way through poetry and plays in Dogri. He also appreciated the contribution of Dinu Bhai Pant and said that he constructed the strong base with his most popular poetry “Shehar Pehlo Pehal”.
Prof N D Sharma, in his address spoke about the contributions of Dinu Bhai Pant and said that the Dogri poetry and literature written by Dinu Bhai Pant was the turning point of that era in the history of Dogri literature.
Prof Lalit Magotra, said that Sahitya Akademi deserves all appreciation for celebrating the birth centenary of Dinu Bhai Pant in such a manner that the all aspects of his life have been covered in this two day seminar. He also mentioned that the poetry “Shehar Pehlo Pehal” in Dogri got its popularity and is being recited by the common masses since then not only in Udhampur but in the whole region.
Dr Manoj also spoke on the occasion and shared his experiences with Dinu Bhai Pant as his father, a poet, a progressive person and a friend.
Devendra Devesh, OSD, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL presented vote of thanks.
