2-day religious Samelan organised by Shodh Sansthan concludes

JAMMU, Oct 15: The two -day long religious Samelan organized by Pt. Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan concluded here, today. The prominent scholars of Kashmiri Pandit community, drawn from different parts of the country, participated in the Samelan and read their papers.
The Samelan started yesterday with inaugural address of Pt Omkar Nath Shastri, chairman of the Shodh Sansthan. Two sessions were held yesterday while one session was held today. During the inaugural session yesterday, Dr Sushil Wattal read the paper while in the second session the papers were read by M K Santoshi, Dr M K Bharat and Opinder Ambardar.
In today’s session Dr R L Bhat, Shiban Khybri and Dr M K Bharat read their papers.
This was followed by a detailed question answer session on varied religious and social issues and those in audience sought clarifications from the scholars on various points.
Swami Kumar Ji, B K Vaishnavi and Prof A K Ogra were on the dais. Swami Kumar Ji in his address said that religion is the binding force for the entire community. He highlighted the teachings of Geeta and significance of Sanaskars.
Prof Ogra suggested that a booklet in the form of dharmic code should be published by the Sansthan which will threw light on Sanaskars, rituals, traditions as well as festivals and will serve as a guiding force for future generations also.
He said that the Sansthan should seek the cooperation of the community scholars in this regard so that in future there is a set formula which the community can follow on every point.
All the speakers were of the opinion that maintaining of age old traditions, customs and rituals is the need of the hour which, have the religious sanctity and significance. However they stressed on doing away with those customs which, neither have any social nor any religious significance and have become outdated now.
Today’s Session was chaired by Pt. Omkar Nath Shastri the chairman of Shodh Sansthan and Editor in chief of Vijeshwar Panchang a religious granth of Kashmiri Pandits.
He said there is lot of need in bringing a total revolution in the Samaj and in this regard lot of exercise needs to done
Shastri Ji stressed on linking the younger generation to its roots and opening of Sanskrit Patshalas (schools) in this regard is the need of the hour.
He sought cooperation of entire Samaj in this regard and stressed on the need of unity in the community and linking it to its past.
He highlighted the role of his illustrious father, Pt Prem Nath Shastri who till his last breath worked for bringing reforms in the community.
The stage was managed by Dr M K Bharat. Arjan Nath Hangloo, Kuldeep Raina and Kuldip Pandita, also spoke on the o occasion. Prominent among others present were Jyotshi Bushan Lal Shastri, Jyotshi Avtar Krishan Shastri, Aryan Ramesh, Rajinder Kilam, Sundri Lal Koul, Bushan Lal Harkar etc.
