2 boys held for poisoning friend

MENDHAR, Feb 3: The two boys were today arrested by police who were allegedly involved in offering poison to their friend Bashrat Hussain, son of Abdul Khaliq of Bera village, resulting into his death while being shifting to Jammu hospital late last evening.
21-year-old innocent boy died after he was given some poisonous stuff by mixing in some drink by his three friends at a local tea stall here in the afternoon on Saturday. The boy during his statement in presence of Dr Shabir and Dr Rafiq narrated the matter to police IO and also identified all the three boys.
On the basis of the dying declaration of the deceased, Mendhar police today arrested two accused persons from their respective hideouts today. They have been identified as Mohd Yasir alias Nafeez, son of Mohd Adrees, resident of Bera village and Arif Hussain Shah, son of Mohd Latief Shah of Bera village. Third accused, Mantoo, son of Mohd Sharief of the same village was still evading arrest.
The dead body of the deceased boy was brought back to Mendhar hospital and after postmortem handed over to the family today. The police has yet to convert 174 CrPC into a murder case despite the fact that the deceased in his dying declaration recorded in presence of two doctors at Mendhar hospital has narrated the whole episode and also identified all the three accused persons.
It is pertinent to mention here that Basharat Hussain, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Bera village in tehsil Mendhar became serious after he was offered some poisonous pills cleverly by mixing with some drink by his three friends. The boy while moving on the road could not balance and fell down with the impact of drugs. He was rushed to hospital by locals. The police was informed and the boy in his statement told police that his three friends offered him some drink at a local tea stall. Thereafter, he started feeling giddy and fell down on the road. He also revealed the names of the boys who offered him this stuff.
The local doctors provided him preliminary treatment and then referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. He died near Sunderbani late last evening. The police registered a case and started search for the boys identified by the victim.
