2 arrested for running illegal travel agency in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 9:

Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Tourism Enforcement Wing has busted an illegal and unregistered Hajj and Umrah Tour and Travel agency operating in Kashmir valley.
A police spokesperson said here this evening that Tourist Police Station Srinagar received an information that one unapproved travel agency namely Indo Sahab located at New Delhi is allegedly operating in Kashmir valley illegally.
In order to cheat gullible people this agency is giving frequent advertisements in local newspapers. After receiving this information, an FIR was registered and investigation taken up.
He said during the course of investigation two persons identified as Dawood Ahmad Azad, son of Humayoun Azad, resident of Kursoo Rajbagh and Mohammad Shabbar Khoja, son of Hassan Ali Khoja, resident of Dongri Mumbai, proprietor of a travel company at Mumbai who were operating in Srinagar, were arrested.
The duo were working with the agency in Jamia Nagar in New Delhi and were persuading and motivating the local Hajj aspirants. They were collecting money from the Hajj aspirants.
During further course of investigation it has surfaced that the agency has not been issued quota for the Hajj by the Ministry of External Affairs. Some documents and passports have been recovered from the accused persons and Rs 3,30,000 has been recovered from Indo Sahab Travel Services, New Delhi till now.
Further investigation of the case is going on. The public in general is advised not to fall prey to unregistered/unauthorized Hajj/Umrah tour operators and before booking any tour, should be verified. (UNI)
