JAMMU, Nov 2: The 1st Inter Polytechnic Annual Sports Meet “Sportech 2018” organized for the first time in the history of Technical Education Department by Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk concluded in the college campus here today.
During the five days long meet, more than 500 students from Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Women Polytechnic Jammu and ASC Polytechnic participated in various disciplines of Cricket, Volleyball, Table-Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Tug of War, Rangoli and Wall Painting.
The chief guest on the closing ceremony was Anoo Malhotra, Director, Technical Education and guest of honour was Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk.
The prizes and trophies were distributed among the winners and runners of various events.
The last day of the meet started with the final cricket match between GP Kishtwar and GP Jammu. Batting first, GP Kishtwar scored 68 runs on the slow pitch in 12 overs and won the nail biting final from GP Jammu by just 2 runs. Waqar Younis from GP Kishtwar took 3 wickets and was declared as Man of the Match, while Kuljeet Singh of GP Jammu was declared as Man of the Series for taking 11 wickets and scoring 83 runs.
The award of appreciation was presented to the organizing committee and various conveners of the events which include Er Inderjeet Singh, Chairman Organizing Committee, Er KS Bhatia Sports Secretary, Guminderpreet Kour PEM, Toshi Devi PET, Er Sukhdeep Singh, Er Rajesh Gupta, Er Sanjay Gupta, Er Zia-ul-Haq, Ritika Wadhera, Amit Sharma, Rajesh Khajuria, Er Akash Dasgotra and Vinay Kumar.
The event was coordinated by Er Sakshi Kapai and vote of thanks was presented by Er Vandana Chib.
Among others present on the occasion were Er Ritu Jamwal, Principal, Government Women Polytechnic Jammu, Er Vivek Sharma, Government Polytechnic Kathua, HoDs of various departments and other staff and students of the various Polytechnics of Jammu Division.
