19th Mahan Gurmat Samagam concludes

POONCH, July 9: The 19th Mahan Gurmat Samagam was celebrated with great religious fervor at Gurdwara Yadgar Sant Bhai Bahadur Singh, situated nearby LoC at Chakan-Da-Bagh, Dharamsal Khari, here.
A large number of devotees irrespective of caste, creed and religion drawn from Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Reasi and Poonch areas joined the culmination ceremony and paid obeisance to the Guru Granth Sahib amidst Gurubani Kirtan by Kirtni Jatha of Bhai Maninder Singh, Delhi Wale, Bibi Varjeet Kour, Jammu. Famous Sikh preacher Bhai Sarabjeet Singh, Ludhiana Wale and Sant Tejwant Singh addressed the gathering emphasizing on spiritual enlightment and its relevance in Sikhism followed by discourse on naam simran and purity of soul with nitnem.
A medical camp was also organized wherein free medicines were also provided to the needy patients.
During the culmination ceremony, famous local raagis and preachers viz Manmohan Singh, Santokh Singh, Raagi Manmeet Singh, Jaswant Singh, Ranjit Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Sartaj Singh, Jasbir Singh and Harcharan Singh also addressed the gathering.
The meritorious students from the community who had passed 10th and 12th class examinations were honoured on the occasion.
A memorandum was also submitted to the J&K Government through MLA Charanjeet Singh Khalsa highlighting the burning demands of Sikh community. Government was also urged to implement Punjabi language in the educational curriculum of the Government schools at the earliest.
Brigadier 93 Infantry Brigade AS Parekar, SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey, Additional DC Dr Gurvinderjit Singh, officers from district administration and Government departments, Army, political and social personalities were also present on the occasion.
In the end, Harcharan Singh Khalsa presented vote of thanks.
