JAMMU, Dec 26: 19th District Jammu (Kyorugi/ Poomsae) Taekwondo Championship 2016-17, being organised by District Jammu Taekwondo Association got underway at Brahman Pritinidhi Sabha Parade, here today.
The Championship is being held under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association and Taekwondo Federation of India, recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympics Association, India Olympics Association, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India.
Around 300 players/officials are participating in this 2-day Championship.
The Championship was started with the demonstration of Taekwondo skills by young Boys and Girls of different institutions.
Subash Shastri, President National Mazdoor Conference was the chief guest on the opening ceremony, while Ramesh Sharma, Manager Brahman Pritinidhi Sabha and DN Pangotra, General Secretary JKTA were the guests of honour.
Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Softball Coach, Vikas Abrol, Senior Journalist and Amrit Sharma were the special guests.
The technical team is being headed by Atul Pangotra, NIS(International Referee) with his team of officials including Sanjay Kumar, Rajat Thakur, Mukta Gupta, Brinder Singh Manhas, Arvind Kumar Satti, Ali, Rohit Sharma, Tashi Tundup ,Rajan Jamwal, Narinder Sharma, Nitish Anand, Sourav Sharma, Sunil Singh and Pooja Sharma.
Anuj Sharma is the organizing secretary of the Championship, while Gurinder Rakwal is the Convener.
In sub junior boys Under-18 kg, Gold was won by Aashray Bhasin, silve went to Ishmeet Singh, while bronze medal was bagged by Suitikshan Pratap Singh.
Under-19 kg: Gold – Ashim Abass; Silver- Tanish Sadotra and Bronze-Saksham Sadotra.
Under-21 kg: Gold – Havi Thakur; Silver-Pratham Vaid and Bronze-Daiwik Sharma.
Under-23 kg: Gold – Kartik Sharma; Silver-Aayan Singh and Bronze-Mohd. Jahim and
Bronze-Aditya Jamwal.
Under 23 kg: Gold- Mahil Bangotra: Silver-Pranav Veer Singh: Bronze-Adhy: An Bassan; Bronze-Parth Sharma.
Under-25 kg: Gold – Rudra Pratap; Silver -Ridham Aggrawal; Bronze-Nikhil Chouhan; Bronze-Sunikshit Singh.
Under-25 k: Gold- Danish Kumar; Silver-Harman Samotra: Bronze-Smakash Sharma; Bronze-Karanjot Singh.
