JAMMU, Feb 17: The 182nd Birth Anniversary of Lord Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Deva was celebrated today with great fervour by the Ramakrishna Mission of Jammu at the Mission premises at Udheywala, Jammu.
A large number of devotees, local people gathered for the celebration. The full day celebration was started at early morning with Mangalarati and Vedic chanting. A special Pooja was performed. The devotees were enlightened with the life of Sri Ramakrishna by Swami Sunishchlananda and Swami Nirantarananda ji Maharaj. The day-long celebration ended after evening Aarti and Bhajan. Bhog Prasad was also distributed to the devotees in the afternoon.
Sri Ramakrishna advised everybody to follow his own traditional path as the best way to reach the final destination provided he is honest, sincere and have true longing for God. Instead of conventional concept of religious intolerance, he advocated acceptance and appreciation of every religion as one of the diverse ways to realization in God’s plenty and infinite variety.
The great master passed away on 16th August 1886 but his universal message has been carried forward by his ascetic disciples who formed grand monastery in his name under the leadership of Swami Vivekananda as well as by his householder disciples. The most vital message of Sri Ramakrishna is that every religion is a way to God and every way of worship reaches Him who is our nearest of the near and dearest of the dear.
With an aim to spread the teaching process of Swami Vivekanada, a Vivekananda Study Circle is being run at Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu. A medical facility including cancer treatment centre is also working in the premises.
