17 more Dengue cases reported

JAMMU, Oct 10: Seventeen fresh cases of dengue were reported today in Jammu region, taking the number of people affected with this vector-borne disease so far this season to 287.
According to official sources, as on today, a total of 1432 patients have been tested for dengue out of which 287 cases have been found positive and reports of 916 have been found negative while result of 229 samples are still awaited. “No death has been reported due to Dengue so far”, they added.
Elaborating more, sources said that out of 287 Dengue cases, maximum 251 have been reported in Jammu district followed by 11 in Samba, six each in Kathua and Udhampur districts, five each in Doda and Rajouri districts and one each in Poonch and Kishtwar districts.
They further revealed that out of these 287 dengue patients, 193 were adults (126 males and 67 females) and 94 were children (56 males and 38 females).
“So far Dengue has not claimed any life in Jammu region and most of the patients affected with the disease have returned to their homes after successful treatment in various hospitals”, they added.
