16 residential houses damaged in massive fire in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: As many as 16 residential houses were gutted in a massive fire in the summer capital, Srinagar, official source said here today.

Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Ahmad Bukhari this afternoon visited the fire victims and directed the concerned officers to provide all the basic necessities to the fire victims, including tents and free ration for three days.

They said fire broke out in a residential house at Chinar Bagh in the city this morning. Fire tenders from different parts of the city were rushed to douse off the leaping flames, clearly visible for a distance.         However, before the fire was doused off, the flames spread to nearby houses, resulting in damages to 16 residences. They said no one was injured in the incident, adding the cause of the fire was not immediately clear. (AGENCIES)
