15th State Yoga Championship held

JAMMU, Oct 5: 15th State Yoga Championship was held at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium here today.
Around 100 Yoga players who qualified after participating in their respective district championship from Jammu, Rajouri, Udhampur, Samba and Reasi took part in the championship.
The selected players in the coaching camp will leave for Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to take part in the National Championship to be held from October 25.
The championship was declared open by Prof Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Olympic Association, who while speaking gave a brief account of the importance of yoga in the Country and abroad.
The medals were awarded by Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Deepak Handa, President J&K Yoga Association and Ravi Singh Divisional Sports Officer in the presence of Sarwant Singh Gill, Secretary J&K Cycling Association, Vikas Gupta, Joint Secretary Judo Federation of India, Surinder Pathak, Anil Gupta, Surinder Kumar, Dayal Ram, Mukesh Sharma, Vishal Kumar, Rajesh Bandral, Vishnu Sharma and Incharge Yoga from different schools.
In under 8-11 years (boys), Varun Attri, Vikalp and Sparsh Sharma secured first, second and third positions respectively, whereas in 11-14 years, Mohammad Hamza, Ramakant and Ayush Dogra clinched first, second and third positions respectively, in 14-17 years, Ketan Sharma, Abhishek Sharma and Taruk Kumar bagged first, second and third positions respectively and in 17-21 years, Sudesh Kumar, Rakesh Singh and Baljinder Singh bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In 8-11 years (girls), Akriti, Priyanka Devi and Hafza Yousaf emerged winners, in 11-14 years, Iva Bharti, Meena Verma and Monika Devi clinched first, second and third positions respectively and in 14-17 years, Risha, Mansi Sharma and Afreen bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
