14384 cases disposed off in National Lok Adalats across State

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Apr 22: National Lok Adalats were held across the J&K today at High Court, District and Tehsil levels under the patronage of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority.
A total of 14384 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 5.25 crores approximately was awarded as compensation in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 67.20 crores approximately was settled in bank recovery suits in the National Lok Adalats in the State.
J&K High Court Legal Services Committee under the patronage of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, Chief Justice (Acting), High Court, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey Judge High Court of J&K Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee organized National Lok Adalat at both the wings of the High Court Jammu and Srinagar.
In Jammu wing of the High Court, 2 benches were constituted, whereas, at Srinagar wing of High Court, 3 benches were constituted.
7 cases of MACT, 1 SWP matter and 5 cases of bank recovery (pre-litigation) were settled by both the wings of High Court. They also awarded compensation of Rs 45.92 lakh.
JAMMU: On the direction of Chairman National Legal Services Authority and under the supervision of Patron-in-Chief and Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, a National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu under the Chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu.
A total number of ten benches were constituted at District Court Complex, Jammu. The first bench was presided over by VC Koul, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu and was assisted by Haq Nawaz Zargar, 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge, TADA/POTA Jammu, while the second bench was presided over by ML Manhas, Special Judge Anti-corruption, CBI Cases Jammu and was assisted by Sham Lal Lalhal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jammu and Sonia Gupta Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu.
The third bench was headed by Bala Jyoti, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases Jammu and was assisted by Ranbir Singh Jasrotia, Additional District Judge Matrimonial Cases Jammu and Surinder Singh, City Judge Jammu, while the fourth bench was headed by MS Parihar, 1st Additional District and Sessions Judge Jammu and was assisted by Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Presiding Officer MACT Jammu.
The fifth bench was headed by Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate and was assisted by Madan Lal, Special Excise Magistrate, Jammu, while the sixth bench was headed by Kusum Lata Pandita, Sub Judge Jammu and was assisted by Meyank Gupta, 3rd Additional Munsiff Jammu and Wangial Tsering, Forest Magistrate Jammu.
The seventh bench was headed by Sudhir Khajuria, Spl. Electricity Mobile Magistrate, Jammu and was assisted by Manjeet Rai, Special Mobile Magistrate P&T, Jammu and Swati Gupta, Sub-Registrar Jammu, while the eighth bench was headed by Som Lal, Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Jammu (13FC) and was assisted by Arti Devi, Munsiff JMIC Jammu.
The ninth bench comprised of Yahya Firdous Ahangar, Speicial Railway Magistrate, Amit Sharma, Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic, Jammu and Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate, Traffic Jammu, while the tenth bench comprised of Manoj Parihar, Special Municipal Magistrate Jammu, Madhu Khajuria, 2nd Additional Munsiff Jammu and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu.
A total number of 6990 cases were taken up, out of which 6031 cases have been decided. A total of Rs 657896257 was settled.
Lok Adalat benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah, and RS Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
UDHAMPUR: National Lok Adalat organized by District Legal Services Authority was held at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, KS Parihar, wherein a total of 6 benches were constituted in the district.
The first bench was comprised of Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur, KS Parihar and Sandeep Kour, Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Udhampur while the second bench has CL Bavoria Additional District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur and Balbir Lal Jaswal CJM Udhampur. The third bench comprised of Ajay Kumar, District Mobile Magistrate Udhampur and Junaid Imtiaz Mir, Munsiff JMIC Udhampur, while the fourth bench comprised of Anjum Ara, Sub-Judge Ramnagar and Advocate RK Jandial. The fifth bench comprised of Anjana Rajput, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Munsiff Majalta and sixth bench comprised of Sumati Sharma Munsiff Chenani.
A total of 821 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which, 731 cases were settled on the spot. An amount of Rs 54, 55,000 was realized in MACT cases while a total of Rs 14,58,592 lakh was realized in various bank cases. Besides, fine amounting Rs 2,45,350 was realized in respect of various criminal compoundable cases.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority Reasi under the chairmanship of SR Gandhi Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi organized National Lok Adalat. 520 cases of different nature were taken up and 246 were settled and settlement amount for Rs 25,17,378 was awarded. The Lok Adalat was presided over by VS Manhas, Sub Judge CJM, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi.
Two benches for settling the referred cases were constituted. The first was presided over by VS Manhas, Sub Judge CJM Reasi and was assisted by Rimpi Rani JMIC/Munsiff, Reasi, while the second bench was presided over by Sandeep Gandotra Sub-Judge Katra and was assisted by Parveen Pandoh JMIC/Munsiff, Katra.
SAMBA: A National Lok Adalat was held in the district court complex under the chairmanship of RK Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge.
Three benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench comprised of RK Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge and was assisted by SK Khanmotra, Advocate. In this bench, 8 MACT cases were settled and compensation of Rs 20,80,000 has been awarded.
The second bench was headed by Deepal Sethi, CJM, Sub Judge and was assisted by Kamiya Singh, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate. In this bench, 2 bank suits were settled and an amount of Rs 12,54,000 was settled.
The third bench comprised of Shabnam Sheikh Munsiff and was assisted by Jyoti Bhagat, Additional Munsiff Samba. In this bench, 231 MV Act cases were disposed off and a fine of Rs 49,910 was realized, 6 cases of labour disputes were settled and an amount of Rs 23025 was realized and 1 case of 488 CrPC and 1 civil case were also settled.
BHADERWAH: National Lok Adalats were organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Bhaderwah (Doda) under the chairmanship of Chairman, DLSA Principal District and Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah MK Sharma.
The Lok Adalat comprised of 06 benches in which various cases were taken up for amicable settlement.
A total of 357 cases were taken up, out of which 76 cases were disposed and an amount of  Rs 38,10,509 was settled in the MACT and bank recovery cases.
RAJOURI: National Lok Adalat was held in the district court complex here under the chairmanship of Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge, in which four benches were constituted.
The first bench comprised of Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge and was assisted by Rajinder Sapru, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajouri, while second bench was headed by Riyaz Ahmed Mirza, CJM Rajouri and was assisted by Naushad Ahmed Khan, District Special Mobile Magistrate. The third bench was headed by Tabraiz Ahmed Qazi, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate and was assisted by KM Bhat Advocate, while the fourth bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and was assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary, Advocate.
Similar benches were also constituted at Tehsil levels, which were headed by the presiding officers of the respective courts.
A total of 700 cases were taken up, out of which 596 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 7915620 was settled. 25 MACT cases were taken up, out of which 23 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 7745000 was awarded as compensation.
POONCH: National Lok Adalat was held in district court complex here under the chairmanship of Zubair Ahmad Raza, Principal District and Sessions Judge. On the occasion, two benches were constituted at district headquarters. The first bench was presided over by Zubair Ahmad Raza, Principal District and Sessions Judge and was assisted by Adnan Sayeed Mobile Magistrate Poonch, while the second bench was presided over by Mohammad Ashraf Khan, CJM Poonch and was assisted by Wajahat Kazmi District Mobile Magistrate (T) Poonch. At Surankote, the bench was presided over by Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Sub Judge and was assisted by Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi, Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote and at Mendhar, the bench was presided over by Choudhary Riaz Ahmad, Munsiff JMIC.
A total of 91 cases were taken up, out of which 70 cases were settled. In civil cases an amount of Rs 840 was settled and in MACT cases, Rs 315000 was awarded, whereas in pre-litigation cases Rs 581577 was recovered. In criminal cases, Rs 3100 was recovered as fine. A total of 36 civil and 7 criminal cases were also decided.
RAMBAN: As many as 352 cases were settled out of the total 489 listed cases and the settlement amount of Rs.22,94483 was realised by various benches across the Ramban district during the National Lok Adalats held in the respective courts at Ramban, Batote, Banihal, Gool and Ukhral today.
The National Lok Adalats were supervised by the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Inder Singh.
BANDIPORA: National Lok Adalat comprising 4 benches was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora Syed Sarfaraz Hussain here today.
As many as 699 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 110 cases settled amicably. A settlement amount of Rs 675350 was awarded under various bank cases during the Lok Adalat.
Three benches were established at District Court Complex Bandipora which were presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora Syed Sarfaraz, Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora Raja Mohammad Tasleem and MUNSIF Bandipora Iqbal Ahmad Aakhoon respectively.
Lok Adalat at Court Complex Sumbal was chaired by Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sumbal Manzoor Hussain Chowdhary.
SHOPIAN: National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of district court complex here under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar Shavana Chairman District Legal Service Authority Shopian, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Shopian, SS Bali and Secretary District Legal Services Authority Shopian, Lubna Sultan. During the proceedings, nine benches were constituted.
In the National Lok Adalat, 381 cases of different nature including Pre-Litigation were taken up, out of which 186 cases has been settled by Mediation and reconciliation.
An amount of Rs 53750 has been recovered as fine and same has been deposited in Government Treasury. However, Rs 50000 were realized from defaulters in bank recovery cases. Besides that, an amount of Rs 4153800 was also realized in different cases, which was paid to the beneficiaries.
ANANTNAG: National Lok Adalat was held in district court complex here in which 357 cases of different nature were solved amicably, in two separate benches.
The first bench consisted of CJM Anantnag and Munsif while as second bench consisted of District Mobile Magistrate Anantnag and a senior advocate.
On the occasion, Rs 55800 was recovered against the electric and traffic challans while as Rs 338017 was recovered in bank recovery cases.
BIJBEHARA: National Lok Adalat was held here in which 40 cases of different nature were solved amicably.
BARAMULLA: National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Service Authority under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Rajesh Shikri, who is the chairman of the District Legal Service Authority at court complex here.
The Lok Adalat was presided by Ist Additional District Judge Baramulla Jeema Bashir whereas Sub Judge Baramulla Khursheed-ul-Islam was also present during the Lok Adalat.
As many as 152 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat, comprising of civil and revenue cases. 90 cases were settled amicably on the spot beside Rs 3500000 was realized as the settlement amount.
SOPORE: National Lok Adalat was organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee in court complex here which comprised of three different benches. The first bench was presided over by Additional District Judge Shazia Tabasum, second bench was presided over by Chief Judicial Magistrate Masarat Roohi and third bench was presided over by District Mobile Magistrate Jehangir Bakshi.
On the occasion, 430 cases of various natures were taken into account during which 403 cases were settled on spot. Moreover, Rs 24.90 lakh was realized as settlement amount besides an amount of Rs 1.10 lakh was realized as fine in various cases.
URI: National Lok Adalat was organized in the premises of Tehsil Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Sub-judge Uri Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, who is also the Chairman Tehsil legal Services Authority. As many as 78 cases of various natures were taken up out of which 32 cases were settled amicably on the spot beside Rs 81,300 was realized as the settlement amount.
KARGIL: District Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalats at District Court Complex Kargil besides Munsiff Court Drass and Sankoo. During the Lok Adalats 3 benches were constituted at each court premises for settlement of cases and resolution of disputes. The bench constituted at District Court Complex was presided over by the Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Principal District and Session Judge Kargil, Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat. Chief Judicial Magistrate Kargil Spalzes Angmo also participated in the bench.
During the Lok Adalats, 107 cases were taken up out of which 79 were disposed off on spot. Moreover, an amount of Rs 770874 was also realized and deposited into Government Treasury. A case of MV Act was also settled in which the injured was compensated with Rs 1,10,000.
A number of cases pertaining to Labour and Police Act as well as minor compoundable cases were also taken up for hearing. An amount of Rs 6,43,774 was awarded in favour of the petitioner in one of the cases relating to pre-litigation matter wherein the Executive Engineer Division 1st  undertook to pay the amount as soon as possible.
