13 girls hospitalised after consuming sub-standard biscuits

RAJOURI, Aug 10: At least 13 girl students of  a Govt school at Ladoka (Lam) in Nowshera Sub Division, were fallen ill after they allegedly consumed  sub-standard biscuits brought to school by a student.
Official sources said that after a girl student whose mother is Anganwadi worker in ICDS, had brought some old biscuit packets  to school. She also consumed those biscuits also offered to her friends in the school. After some time, the girls who consumed this stuff started vomiting and also complained stomach pain.
The school staff informed their parents and all the girls were then rushed to Sub District Hospital, Nowshehra. The hospital authorities told in the evening that all the girls were now out of danger. They were identified as Shazia Kousar, daughter of Mohd Shafi, Afia Baina, daughter of Mukhtar Hussain, Nazia Akhtar, daughter of Manzoor Hussain, Shazia Akhtar, daughter of Maqbool Hussain, Shahnaz Akhtar, daughter of Makhan Din, Rabia Kouser, daughter of Mushtaq Hussain, Sozia Kouser, daughter of Nazir Hussain, Nazia Kouser, Samoa Kouser, Sonakshi Sharma, daughter of Naresh Kumar, Shabnam Akhtar, Shabana and Noshil Kouser all students of class 9th hailing from Ladoka area.
SHO Nowshera, Romal Singh when contacted said that police has taken cognizance of the matter. He said that the police was trying to discover  the company which supplied the biscuits through wrapper/ packet cover.  He said some biscuits offered to girls were already opened and kept in polythene. The Police was trying to identify whether the biscuits were supplied to ICDS Rajouri by Rattan brand or some other agency.
District Administration has also taken serious note of  it and directed the   SDM and ASP Nowshera to register a case in this connection.
