12th JK Science Congress concludes at JU

JAMMU, Mar 4: The three-day 12th JK Science Congress at the University of Jammu, concluded here today.
The Congress with the theme “Science and Technology: Emerging Trends and Innovations”, was organized by JU in collaboration with the J&K State Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Jammu and Kashmir.
In the valedictory function,  Sajad Gani Lone, Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings, Science &Technology,  was the chief guest, Dr  Surinder Singh, Director, National Institute of Biologicals, New Delhi was the guest of honour,  while Prof  Keshav Sharma, Registrar, JU, presided over the function.
More than 700 senior faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students from various reputed Research Institutes, Universities and Colleges including  Geneva, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, New Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and J&K  participated in the  mega scientific event.
Presenting the final report and recommendations of the three day proceedings of the Science Congress,  Prof Geeta Sumbali, Dean, Life Sciences and the Organizing Secretary, 12th JK Science Congress,  informed about 231 oral and 274 poster presentations were made in 10 different research areas of Science.
Sajad Gani Lone talked on various initiatives taken up by the J&K State Science, Technology and Innovation Council for generating the popularization of science among the masses. Later, he also distributed the Merit Certificates and Awards in oral and poster presentation categories to the winners.
Dr  Surinder Singh offered to support the research in the field of Oncology and invited the young researchers to work in co-ordination with him in his area of research.
Prof  Keshav Sharma, Prof Jigar Mohd and Prof  Rajni Dhingra  also spoke on the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof  D S Jamwal, the Co-organizing secretary of the Congress.
