12 new colleges in Udhampur Parliamentary constituency will benefit students: Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI, Jan 16: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that sanctioning of 12 new Degree Colleges in the Lok Sabha Parliamentary constituency of Udhampur-Kathua-Doda, represented by him, would greatly benefit the students pursuing higher education.
Pertinent to mention that two of the colleges have been allotted to district Kathua at Marheen and Ramkote, respectively. Four colleges have been allotted to district Udhampur at Chenani, Dudu Basantgarh, Neeli Nallah and Majalta, respectively. Another three colleges have been allotted to district Reasi at Katra, Pouni and Mogri, respectively. Two colleges have been allotted to district Ramban at far-flung Ukhral and Batote, respectively. Another far-flung college has been allotted to Paddar in district Kishtwar.
Dr Jitendra Singh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government for their liberal assistance in achieving this grand breakthrough in the education sector. In respect of the College at Paddar, Kishtwar, in particular, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the demand had been long pending for several decades and he acknowledged the intervention from Central RUSA (Rashtriya Uchhtar Shiksha Abhiyan).
With this, as far as the education sector is concerned, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in the last five years, two new medical colleges have come up in Kathua and Doda respectively, while a new Engineering College under Central RUSA fund had come up at Kathua and the University Campus at Kathua has obtained its new premises. In addition, he said, new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) have come up at Janglote in Kathua and new KVs sanctioned for Jodhpur and Gandoh in district Doda while the land acquisition process is going on for a new Kendriya Vidyalaya at Ramban.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the upcoming Bio-tech Park at Gati in Kathua, which is the first-of-its-kind in North India and the first-ever upcoming National Institute of High Altitude Medicinal Plants at Bhaderwah will also offer modern avenues of research and scholarship for students. The landmark ISRO Space Study Centre at Central University, Jammu, which is the first of its kind in North India, will cater to the entire region, he said. Reservation for the residents of International Border (IB) at par with LoC, for which the orders are in the pipeline, will also serve as a great boon for students living in the border villages. The Union Home Ministry’s order for recruitment through 5 new Battalions will also offer job opportunities, he added.
