119th Tree Talk at Rotary Club

JAMMU, May 4: 119th Tree Talk was held at Rotary Club, Sohan Singh Park, here today.
Rotary Club in collaboration with Ayurvedic Uththaan Mandal invited Tree Talk crusader OP Sharma Vidyarthi CCF Ecotourism J&K to sensitize morning walkers, tree lovers and Rama devotees about rich cultural and natural heritage of Jammu in relation to environment, biodiversity and ayurvedic traditions.
While extending warm welcome, Muni Lal Gupta, former president, Hotel and Lodges Association joined by Subash Gupta, Satpal Sharma, president, Bhartiya Yog Sansthan and Dr Taran Singh, secretary, Ayurved Uththaan Mandal said that urgent initiatives are required to enhance aesthetic beauty of river Tawi by planting sacred medicinal trees.
Charan Singh, MLA Kathua traced history of Jammu focusing on traditional tree plantations and worship of Suryadev and Suryaputri. He appealed civil society and youth not to use polythene bags.
OP Sharma Vidyarthi focused on trees associated with Rama’s exile in forests, Sita’s abduction period in Sri Lanka and tree tales associated with Ramayana.
JK Chopra, social activist shared latest initiatives taken to boost cleanliness of river Tawi and hoped that with green tree belt along its banks, upcoming Tawi lake and ropeway from Mubarak Mandi to Mahamaya and strict enforcement of solid waste management rules and regulations, river Tawi will be reverted back to its spiritual and aesthetic glory.
Ratan Lal, Sat Pal Khaura, KB Jandial, member, Public Service Commission, Narinder Singh, Former Director Information, Ratan Lal Khoura, Jugal Kishore Gupta, Karan Singh, Manjit Singh, Raj Kumar, VK Soni, Satpal Sharma, M Gupta and Jyoti Sharma were also present.
