JAMMU, Jan 9: Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association Panthal is organizing 117th Panthal Kesari Vishal Dangal 2017 at Panthal on January 14, 2017.
The event to be held under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association will begin at 1 pm sharp.
The decision to this effect was taken in the office chamber of the president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma at Katra.
Others who attended the meeting were Prittam Kumar Magotra (President,) Parshotam Kumar Mengi, Parshotam Kumar Khajuria (Bittu), Mukersh Khajuria, Om Parkash Sanmotra, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and other members of Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association Panthal.
Mr Sharma said 55-60 Wrestlers from different States/UTs like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, H.P and Chandigarh will take part in the event, besides the wrestlers from Jammu, Kathua ,Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Doda, Buddal, Kalakote, Moungri, Ramnagar, Roun Domail, Panthal, Pouni, Akhnoor, Panchari, Dangakote, Panjar, Kalsote, Batote, Ladha, Jasserkote, Sudhmahadev, J&K Police and Dansal etc. are likely to participate in the Vishal Dangal.
Mr. Sharma said the event is being conducted regularly at Panthal for the last 117 years on the eve of Maker Sankranti day, adding that the winner of 1st malli will be presented a cash prize of Rs. 31,000, a trophy and a traditional silver gurj and patta, while the winner of 2nd malli will receive a cash prize of Rs. 21,000 and the winner of third malliwill get Rs. 15,000 as cash prize.
Meanwhile, all the wrestlers of Jammu region desirous to take part have been asked to contact Shiv Kumar Sharma (94191 61880) for their entries in the Vishal Dangal.
