JAMMU, Feb 24: A joint team of Vigilance and Monitoring wing of FCS&CA and Police conducted raid at a shop in Jhajjar Kotli area on Jammu-Udhampur National Highway last mid night and seized about 11,000 liters of kerosene oil from a store located on the highway.
Official sources said that based on the inputs generated by the Vigilance wing of FCS&CA Department, a joint raid was conducted involving SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Sohail Rashid and a Magistrate. During raid at around 12.30 AM midnight, the team seized the shop containing about 11,000 Ltrs of Kerosene oil, It had been stored in barrels.
The shopkeeper Chaman Lal, alias Kaka, resident of Salora village near Jhajjar Kotli, was arrested. The raiding team also seized the shop of the trader. He was dealing in Karyana items. It was learnt that he was selling the kerosene oil to the truck/ tipper operators and other vehicle plying on the highway.
The police said that the Kerosene oil in the shop was kept for illegal sale and in this regard, a case FIR No. 14/2017 was registered under the relevant sections against the accused person at Police Station, Jhajjar Kotli. It said that the shop was sealed in presence of Magistrate on the spot and the further investigation of the case is going on. The arrest was made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Amit Sharma and SP Rural, Arun Gupta.
Director FCS&CA Jammu, G S Chib when contacted said that his officers of the Vigilance and Monitoring Squad had developed information regarding black marketing of kerosene oil at Jhajjar Kotli on National Highway and accordingly a joint operation was organised last mid night. He said that shop has been sealed and trader arrested.
Chib said that a departmental inquiry has been ordered to find out the source of supply to this shopkeeper. He said if any official of the department was found connived with the accused persons, action under law will be taken against him.
