JAMMU, Dec 31: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Sham Lal Lalhal has awarded 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment and fine of Rs one lakh to two Mumbai-based charas smugglers.
These smugglers are Jalal-Ud-Din, son of Farid-Ud-Din Shah and Mehboob Abdul Hai, son of Abdul Hai. They were booked by Greater Kailash Police in charas smuggling case.
After hearing both the sides, Additional Sessions Judge observed, “both the convicts have already suffered the agony of a long trial of about five years and they are young having responsibilities to support their families”.
“Having regard to the extenuating circumstances, each convict is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten years and to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh each”, the court directed, adding “in default of payment of fine, the defaulting convict shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months”.
