10 vehicles detained as CTD enforces e-Way Bill

JAMMU, Apr 1: Ten vehicles were detained today by the officers of the Commercial Taxes Department (CTD), Jammu, during inspection drive undertaken in the wake of enforcement of e-Way Bill system made applicable with effect from April 1.
In an intensified State wide inspection drive, 200 vehicles were inspected by the officers of CTD for scrutiny of the e-Way Bills and other prescribed documents. During the drive, it was impressed upon that stringent provisions like detention/ seizure of the vehicles/goods will be invoked against the defaulters in the days ahead.
The e-Way Bill ordained under Rules 138 and 138-A envisaged online generation of a unique number with details about Consignor, Consignee, bill amount, mode of transport, vehicle number, etc. It has been made compulsory for all trade transactions with transaction value as Rs 50,000 or more for all Inter-State goods transportation.
