Resume dialogue

Sir,

There is a fable in Kashmir which is not only relevant for all the times but typically suits and corresponds with all the situations involving change of any kind. The story reveals the greed of a grave digger who would dig the grave and bury the corpse in the grave. In the mid of night the digger would come to the graveyard open the grave, disengage the corpse from the white cloth wrapped around the dead body and then placing the corpse quite naked in the grave. Some how his mischief came to lime light and he was removed and replaced by another person. After sometime the new digger proved more mischievous than the former. He would not only remove the cloth of corpse but would exhume the dead body throwing the same into open ditch. Now both the grave diggers and before us, expect lot, salute to both. Failures and successes are two relative terms and one has to shake his hands with others. It matters a jot who won and who lost the game, when the fact remains to have respect for morals and deference for others governs our manners. Failures was quite expected and evident in the prevailing condition when power capturing thirst dominated the will power and impulses than approach for the rational and reasonable delivery of goods. Losing game in no way diminishes the personality of a man rather it awakens and provokes the persons to make a self-introspection to shun which is ethically and morally repugnant to the code of conduct.

Change is always better to the extent it provides good administation with good governance. Change implies improvement for the creation of faith that could be considered a practical method by which men rule for the good of souls. It is impossible to run a society, govt. or to cope with its problem if people are not held accountable for each entry to plug mismanagement.

Since no party has been able to secure the absolute majority with the result that it had to fall no the support for coalition Govt. It will be a contract for happiness of both parties sanctioned by society and may terminate if they fail to come to the expectation of the masses and prove themselves a broken reed. Coalition Govt. if at all it succeeds in the formation in context of the fight for survival of the fittest, it may prove problematic and onerous for the centre in many ways for some obvious reasons. This will redouble their responsibility when I fear at the same time that the coalition Govt. may not last long. Again the Congress has implanted one more crisis in the State i.e Regionalism. CM, Dy. CM either of the two from Jammu. Crisis creaps cracks. This will again land the State in the Whirlpool of humiliation.

Very soon the similar slogan with echo from Ladakh. Instead of monitoring the activities of administration, providing good goverance, watching methodology in t he utilisation of funds for all regions, we are thrown in the vortex of depression, and despair. Let's be fair with the people and initiate confidence building measures which is the panacea for all the diseases.

This is the internal feature of our State. Externally, I would again request the centre to pickup dialogue with the relevant representatives of the political parties of the State without wasting time. At second stage dialogue with Pakistan and third stage dialogue between India, Pakistan and representatives of J&K State.

In the end, let's adopt humanitarian outlook on life and project what will remain good for the people.

Power shortage hits normal life

Sir,

Jammuites have become the puppets in the hands of Power Development Department as the daily routine life of Jammuites is totally dependent on the power curtailment schedule imposed by PDD. Student studying in the university or in nursery class, both are suffering badly because of these daily curtailments. Their time table gets disturbed and the life style become stagnant for two or three hours when power cut is imposed on their daily routine life. Candle light is very harmful for the eyes of little-students but it is the only alternative at the time of their exams because every body can’t afford an inverter.

Housewives also suffer badly because they have to do each and every work hurriedly. Employees too are slaves of these cuts, they do each and every preparation of tomorrow at the night only. They can’t go to office in unironed clothes. For them to iron the clothes at night is the most important and urgent work. They all give first priority to those works which are related to light.

Despite paying the revenue to the Power Development Department (PDD), the people have to spend huge money for candles or other alternative source of light every day. A normal family can save so much of amount for the tuition fee of their children. Inverter costs Rs.10,000 and a person with normal salary can’t afford this much of sum. If he will manage, then his first priority will be the career of his son or daughter to provide them modern and good education, so that their children can get a good job. Some people usually have the bad habit of teasing or even physically harassing the late comer ladies from their work and during late evening in dark lanes and by-lanes in the absence of street-lights.

It is really a knotty problem to solve, because 80 percent of human life is dependent on electricity. People are entitled to live a happy life according to their wish, but these curtailments deprive the healthy living style of people. Sometime(routine cuts) they become so frequent that people feel helpless, and usually curse people at that time.

NC in race

Sir,

The just concluded free & fair elections of J&K will be a watershed in the tormented valley which has been on razors’ edge for more than a decade. Overwhelmingly participation in the electoral process by the people of J&K –inspite of threats & boycott calls is clear indication of rejection of terrorisms & separatism by the people in favour of democracy. By opting out at this stage, the NC is not doing any real service to the people. For a healthy democracy it must also participate in the permutations & combinations now going on to reach the magical figure of 44. Its 28 & PDP's 16 make exact 44?However the Governor must ensure that horse trading does not occur in the most sensitive state at this critical time of history. The parties must also rise above partisan interests & work for the much needed healing touch.

After a viable Government is installed development & corruption free governance must become the key result areas. Tourism, horticulture, small scale & cottage industries need to be revived. New major projects- like railway lines, highways, tapping water resources for power generation etc should be taken up on priority. Meaningful dialogue must also be initiated with the local separatists to bring them back into the mainstream.
