Peoples'
verdict
Sir,
The
Assembly poll results are out. People
have elected their preferred candidates.
Braving bullets, they came out, if not in
a large numbers, to exercise their right
to franchise. Now the ball is in the
court of people who will hold the reigns
of administration. It is upto them, how
they would govern in the present
circumstances. The foremost duty of the
new Government should be to contain
militancy which has created mayhem in the
State. They have uprooted thousands of
families belonging to not only Hindus but
also to Muslims. If militancy is
contained, naturally it will pave way for
development and peace. This is because,
no one is accountable during militancy.
Every body is a law unto himself.
Bureaucrats, officials, whoever, is at a
responsible post is making money taking
undue advantage of the situation. If
talks with the Central Government is
prelude to peace, every section of the
society should be involved in it.
Otherwise, the situation will show no
tangible results. If any section is
neglected at this time, they will resort
to violence next time. And the life will
go like this. There will be never peace
on this land.
Moreover,
the Government should prioritise sectors
which have been mostly hit during this
period. Corruption which is raising its
ugly head day by day should be curbed at
once. Otherwise after militancy, this
monster is going to devour people.
People
have pinned their hopes in the new
Government. They (Ministers) should not
look the other way while one is
beseeching justice. This will be a great
betrayal. People will never forgive them.
The
Assembly polls are also a rebuff to
Pakistani establishment which has kept
the flame of terrorism burning in the
State. They should lay off the matter
now.
A word of
caution. Central Government should at the
same time devise a proper strategy, a
proper vision to tackle this issue. No
short cut formula should be formulated.
Keeping long term intercasts in view, it
is necessary to deal with the situation
cautiously and wisely.

Lanes,
drains in miserable condition
Sir,
We, the
inhabitants of Mohalla Kali Jani Jammu,
wish to draw the kind attention of
Administrator, Jammu Municipality towards
the miserable condition of lanes and
drains near Arya Samaj Girls School,
Jammu. The Safai Karamacharies deputed in
this area do not bother to clean the
lanes and drains for days together
leading to the pile up of garbage.
The
Administrator, Jammu Municipality is well
aware of the fact that there is not even
a single urinal near Arya Samaj Girls
High Schools market. As a result of the
same, people urinate on the walls of the
school leading to foul smell. It may lead
to outbreak of diseases. It is pertinent
to mention here that the Girls studying
in the Arya Samaj School find it
inconvenient to pass through the lanes.
Perhaps this is the reason the strength
of this school has been reduced to 200 in
place of 1000 earlier.
We,
therefore, urge the Administrator Jammu
Municipality through Mohalla Welfare
Committee Kali Jani, Jammu to take
appropriate action and to construct at
least two urinals-one for gents and other
for ladies-in the market. Further, we
urge him to direct the safai-karamcharies
to clean the said area daily.
An early
action in this matter by the
Administrator, Jammu Municipality shall
be highly appreciated by the public at
large.
Yours
etc...
