Strive for peace

Sir,

The democratic process in our State is now over. And now it is turn for Government formation in State.

In this election, our electorate participated in a civilised way. Our Prime Minister also applauded our voters for their active participation despite the heavy threats from the militants. Although we have lost so many of our precious lives in the process still our voters cast their votes. It is not out of place to mention here that our neighbour also left no stone unturned in vitiating the climate of election in Jammu and Kashmir State. Infiltration has increased across the border and day to day killings of innocent people can't be borne anymore. Our security forces are doing commendable job. They are the heroes whom we should worship. They sacrifice their lives for the sake of the country. Our nation is proud of them. In Jammu province the terrorist attacks on the innocent people also looks very sad. The common people feel unsafe merely because the havoc of terrorists. Now we have pinned our hopes with the newly elected Government.

We also hope that the new Government shall evolve a mechanism as such which goes to for peace and prosperity in the State. That will be the last blow for the militancy in J&K State. Let us hope for the best.

Yours etc...

A welcome decision

Sir,

It gives highest degree of relief and happiness of read your esteemed paper of 8.10.2002 publishing "Daughters not to lose state subjects of marrying outside J&K", a decision by the Hon'ble High Court of J&K State. The Hon'ble Court deserves appreciations for delivering the correct and long desired justice with daughters of the soil. For years together those girls of J&K State who happens to marry to an outsider, but very much an Indian citizen, used to be discriminately treated. By stamping on their State subject certificates "Valid Till Marriage", the J&K Govt. deprived the daughters of the soil of State Govt. jobs and right to remain a State subject. This injustice with the women folk kept on, till recently few bold and courgeous ladies whose job was at stake stood like a solid rock against the injustice and faulty rule and with the most appropriate and befitting decision by the Hon'ble Court there comes an end to the aged old practice. The entire women folk of J&K State will ever remain thankful for this highly appreciable decision which I am sure would be written in the history of J&K State in golden words.

Once again, a smart and respectful salute to the Hon'ble Judges of the High Court of J&K State and ever lasting congratulations to those 12 petitioners who took the lead for achieving the most deserving benefit for the daughters of the soil.

Plea to Education Director

Sir,

We the newly appointed teachers would like to draw the attention of the concerned educational authorities towards our sufferings for want of salary. We have been serving in our respective schools since April 2002 without any salary. It is injustice with us being done by the Education Department. Posted in far flung areas, they meet all their expenses out of their pocket which has become very difficult now. It is impossible to carry on without pay.

It is heard that our verifications are not over yet. They are still lying in SP Office Kathua. So the S P Office may be requested to proceed further into the matter and do the varifications immediately without further delay. The Director School Education is requested to look into it personally and get the needful done at the earliest.

Yours etc...
All Aggrieved newly
appointed teachers.
