Traffic choas at Nandani Tunnel

Sir,

I want to bring the problem of traffic chaos at Nandani Tunnel to the notice of concerned police authorities for necessary remedial measures.

The left tube of Nandani tunnel has been closed since April 2002 for renovation, and now the up and down traffic has to pass from right tube only. The condition of road inside right tube is deplorable. There are pits, upheavals and water logging always. As such vehicles cannot pass smoothly and it takes too much time to pass the tunnel. If condition of road inside the tunnel is improved the time taken by a vehicle to cross the tunnel can be drastically reduced. There is lack of coordination between the persons on the either side of the tunnel. Traffic is not regulated in a coordinated manner and many a time vehicles have to be reserved which is so difficult in view of the continuous flow of vehicles. It results in sheer wastage of time.

Convoy of Army and other forces play another havoc by not observing system of single laning on the roads, so that traffic from opposite direction can continuously ply. Problem is very grave as only route to Jammu gets choked daily for hours together and force personnel convoys bound for Railway station/transit camp are held up due to lack of precautions. Other people returning to Jammu from Udhampur, Katra, Srinagar etc. also get held up at different stations due to traffic jams.

It is requested to the concerned authorities of National Highway to regulate the traffic at Nandani Tunnel.

Strive for simple marriage

Sir,

With reference to Anshul Aima's article, 'meaning of marriage' published in the Sunday Magazine and later on Moza's interpretation, I am glad to pen down that charity begins at home. First of all, it is the prime duty of every youth attaining the age of marriage should make it a point to enter into wedlock without 'dowry and demand'. This is the basic evil that damages our social, religious and economic way of life. The theme of education is to make us understand that we all are equally responsible for the extravagant marriages of unnatural false standards here in exile to show our economic status which is not real but temporary.

A young girl and a youth both educated and less educated or not educated should make pious and real relations at the time of marriage. They should work hard to earn money for a comfortable life in future. They should act as an example to teach their parents and elders that there should be no dowry, no demand to make the life of a bride honourable and her parents comfortable. This will naturally effect the extravagance of marriages and false pomp and show by their compelled parents in old age and ill health. The money can be saved for the education of youngsters and other constructive purposes.

This shall really reform greedy in-laws monitarily and dowry deaths and divorce can hardly raise its ugly head. Youth alone can reform our society, give it a new get up and proper thinking because child is the father of man. It will not be out of place of mention here that recently I brought two daughter-in-laws without any dowry or demand. Let us preserve and save our language and save our rich culture as its inheritants.

Unfulfilled promise

Sir,

May I draw the attention of our Chief Minister towards the promise made by him. He said in several public meetings that unemployed Kashmiri youths will be absorbed in Govt. as well as private sector. Formats were prepared and dates fixed for their registration. Kashmiri migrants stood in long queues in front of the Civil Secretariat under severe heat waiting till late for their turn to get registered. Our mothers and sisters did not lag behind in the process with the hope that their wards will be provided employment as assured by the Chief Minister of the State.

Now the 3rd phase of election has ended smoothly. The fourth phase and onwards will also go smoothly. After counting of votes a new Government is to be formed. Whatsoever, party comes in power, the promise made by the Chief Minister will remain a dream for Kashmiri unemployed youth for ever.

Secularism through religion

Sir,

With reference to 'Secularism through religion' DE October 1, the writer has emphasised upon that true secularism can come only through a proper understanding of religion and their teachings.

With all due respect, I am very sorry to say that the writer does not know that really secularism means. The word secularism has been derived from the word 'secular' means not concerned with or related to religion. Secularism itself is a doctrine that rejects religion. It is the attitude that religion should have no place in civil affairs. secularism is considering everything, without taking religion into account.

And I just couldn't figure it out that when secularism has nothing to do with religion then how the writer wanted to get secularism through religion.
