Bible is divine revelation

Sir,

Why call the autonomy report a political Bible? The Bible is Divine Revelation and to compare it with a political document is tantamount to blasphemy. (Refer "Autonomy report is a political Bible for us". Shah - Daily Excelsior May 7).

In his second Epostle to Trimothy (Tim 3:16-17) Saint Paul says: "All scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching for reproving, for correcting, for instructing in justice, that the man of God may be perfect, equipped for every good work."

The subject of inspiration is of such essential importance that the fathers of vatican 11 took special note of it in the Document on Divine Revelation. Again therein we read: "Those divinely revealed realities have been committed to writing under the inspiration of the Holy spirit for holy mother, Church, relying on the belief of the Apostles, holds that the books of both the old and new testament in their entirety, with all their parts, are sacred and canonical because, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they have God as their author and have been handed on as such to the Church herself. In composing the sacred books, God chose men and while employed by Him they made use of their powers and abilities so that with Him acting in them and through them they as true authors, consigned to writing every thing and only those things which He wanted.

Therefore, since everything asserted by the inspired authors or sacred writers must be held to be asserted by the Holy spirit, it follow that the books of the scripture must be acknowledged as teaching solidly, faithfully and without error that truth which God wanted put into sacred writings for the sake of salvation. Therefore, all scripture is divinely inspired and has its use for teaching the truth and refuting error for reformation of manners and discipline in right living so that the man who belongs to God may be efficient and equipped for good work of every kind.

My simple and plain questions to Mr. Gulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah are - Is the Autonomy report divinely inspired? Has its use for teaching the truth and refuting the error? Is the report for reformation of manners and discipline in right living? Does the report equip man for good work of every kind?

I would suggest to the Deputy Chief Minister of my State simply look before you leap and not to play with the religious sentiments of the Christian community. However, I end up with the prayer which my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ made to His father in Heaven. "Father forgive them for they knoweth not what they do."

Scar on secular India

Sir,

India as the largest secular democracy had elevated her image in the world. But the latest Gujarat carnage has denigrated her image in the eyes of emancipated nations of the world. Really we boast of "Unity in Diversity". India, a country of different religions, castes and races but bound by the bonds of love, tolerance, compassion and mutual co-existence being inherited from the teachings of great sages and seers. But the gruesome tragedy on the name of religion is a bad scar on the fore head of our country.

In this context the latest write up of M.L. Kotru entitled "Gujarat shakes confidence of Indians" in your esteemed paper dated May 4, 2002 has penetrated my heart and soul. To quote "Vajpayee has a limited choice. More so when his Govt. has put the country into an eye ball to eye ball confrontation with a belligerent Pakistan along our border. Allowing Gujarat sore to fester is not going to help whichever way we look at it".

It is an occasion for deep introspection. The social fabric of the country delicately knit with chronometric secular threads shall crumble and all the global community shall look at us with eyes of hatred, having lost that glory for which we were praised since time immemorial. If such incidents are not curbed and the seeds of it not unearthed they shall sprout out like stenchy plants, spreading foul smell throughout the country. These incidents shall be a bad scar on the soil of sages and we may be dubbed as a pseudo secular nation.

Mystery of MiG-21

Sir,

Recently three India MiG-21 fighter air crafts crashed causing heavy damage to IAF and to their repute. In the latest tragedy 8 civilians were also killed when a Mig-21 crashed into a populated area in Punjab. These were not the first crashes to occur. In the last decade IAF has lost at least 105 MiG-21 fighters air crafts and whereas total no. of crashes of jet fighter air crafts are about 200 which include crashes of MiG-21, 23, 27, 29, Jaguar and Mirage. In these crashes IAF has to only lost costly jet fighters, air crafts but also 100 precious loves of pilots.

India inducted MiG-21 in the year 1965 into IAF as classical Soviet made interceptor when Americans and Britishers in 60s refused to supply high performance weapon systems like jet fighters and sub-marines to India. India acquired MiG-21 in 60s at very cheaper subsidized price of Rs. 25 lakhs per air craft when same technology supplied by western powers was very costly.

In October the US President Bill Clinton even made a public appeal in Moscow for Russia to end its defence relations with India and British Government refused to provide India training fighter air crafts (Hawks). But when Russians under leadership of Mr. Putin defying all the western pressure are providing all sorts of military help to India in upgrading its old weapons and in acquiring new ones, when today Americans are themselves in the fray to provide India whatever India needs on name of defence and security and when India is spenting so heavily on defence, then a big question arises why things are going wrong?

Why IAF is not able to acquire advance training jets (Hawks) from Britain despite long negotiations. If hawks are not available then why Indians does not purchase advance jet training air crafts from other countries like Russia, etc. Why Hawk deal is being delayed when IAF needs Advance training jets at first preference due to which the training standards of Indian pilots have gone down. Compared to 80's 180 hours extensive training imparted to pilots has now been reduced to 100 hours due to the non-availability of training jets.

Why not MiG-21 is removed from IAF when experts put MiG-21 as technically dead or is IAF waiting for complete depletion of MiG-21 in the accidents.

Pak gains ground

Sir,

The sole beneficiary emerging in the aftermath of Gujarat Communal holocaust seems to be our billigerents neighbour Pakistan. The hitherto political and moral high ground being enjoyed by the Indian State by virtue of its secular credentials and vibrant democracy seems to losing ground vis-a-vis the theocratic, intolerant and dictatorial set up of Pakistani State in the international diplomatic circles. Recently, we were sermonised by the self appointed President-Cum-CEO of Pakistan on the subject of rights of minorities. His moral lessons receiving a nod from the Western nations was echoed in the concerned shown for the Indian minorities by the European Union countries not withstanding their history of Jewish ghettoes and Nazi ruthlessness. It is an utter failure on the part of Government both at the national and international level.
