Plain-speaking
on country's integrity
Sir,
The time taken by
the United States in waging a war against
Al-Qaida network and Taliban was nothing but a
hectic exercise to drum up the support from
Pakistan which has the roots of a global
terrorism tree. The forbidden fruits of which
have been tasted by America on Sept. 11, 2001.
America has reasons to celebrate that it has
succeded in buying the loyality of Pakistan for
crores of dollars. The sell out of Pakistan once
again exposes the characterlessness of Pakistani
rulers who do not hesitate to betray its bossom
friends in need. The Pakistani rulers ostensibly
would like to get a credit from its boss US that
it has supported it in fighting a war against the
terrorists who attacked the twin towers of World
Trade Centre and Pentagon.
It will be in the
fitness of the things to mention that the
Americans are sensitive to the Pakistani ISI
pro-bin-Laden elements. Even while the US
officials will continue to maintain in public
that US.Pakistan intelligence cooperation is
going on well, the US will be very much careful
and hypersensitive in accepting at face value any
intelligence inputs offered by the Pakistani ISI
without independent verification.
The US strategy to
cultivate Pakistan in the war against the Taliban
regime makes a tactical and strategic sense.
The helplessness
of General Musharraf has encouraged the US to
extract permission from Pakistan to overfly its
air space for conducting operations against the
Taliban.
By offering its
support of all sorts to the US, Pakistan
President General Parvez Musharraf expects that
there will be some kind of deal on Kashmir issue
which was down placed at Agra. Let us warn
Pakistan and US plainly that any design against
the Indian interests and its integrity will never
be allowed to succeed. Americans might have by
now understood the ugly game the Pakistan is
playing with rest of the world.
India must fight
terrorism of its own which is eating its roots
and should not really depend on others who have
their own are to grind while speaking on the
terrorism in India. Our Prime Minister has
rightly said that we should not let countries
persue their own terrorist agenda under cover of
global action.
By supporting the
US, the dangers to Musharraf's regime have not
entirely evaporated but the ethenic links between
the Afghans and the Pakistani Army including
Jehadis pose the most obvious potential source of
trouble.
Yours etc...
Pawan K Pandita
Durga Nagar,
Jammu.
