Power-cuts in Jammu

Sir,

Now-a-days in Jammu if one finds the light whole day, one thing comes in the mind that either it is the birthday of Chief Minister or a famous leader or (any) a festival.

Electricity is the very key of progress of the nation. It is the soul of all working equipments. From home sciences to health sciences via Engg. Sciences every thing is dependent on electric supply.

In Jammu, students are suffering due to excessive electric cuts. One can imagine the situation if there is no light and tomorrow comes an exam.

In Jammu every deptt is suffering due to shortage of electricity. If they can afford generators, they start creating air as well as noise pullution.

If one has to get photostat copies of a document, the shopkeeper says "come after 2 hours because of power cut in the locality", then think about the progress of that person.

Who is responsible for these cuts? When I asked an old but an educated citizen,: uncle, what do you think who is responsible for these cuts in Jammu? Public, or Government. He replied very surprisingly, "It is public, where is Government ? I have not seen anything being government in Jammu. Is there any Government in the State ? If there be any government then there should not have been such problems."

So, the State Government is more responsible for these electric cuts than the public.

Government talks about the theft of electricity. Is theft not crime? Is this crime not Vs State Govt? Then why the Government is unable to check the thefts?

If it is essential to cut the power of different localities till 10.30 PM. If it is the only remedy to have 7 to 9 hours cut daily then this should be enforced strictly.

Inverters, chargers batteries should be banned because then also suck up the power. It is of remedies of this problems. Otherwise these electricity cuts are of no use at all. It is just to depress the people of middle class and lower middle classes.

On thing also pinches the mind, why it is impossible to catch such culprits who are illegally using electricity. What is PDD doing? It is clear that no body can steal electricity if some one from the Deptt. is not involved in it.

So to overcome this problem the employees of electricity Deptt. should be loyal to their duties. They should check the connections and take legal action against those who commit wrong.

Outrageous act

Sir,

The Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad struck in a barbaric way at Srinagar entering into the State Assembly complex and assassinated more than 40 civilians and wounded hundreds. The destruction of World Trade Centre towers and the loss of thousands of innocent civilians on 11th September was indeed a tragedy. The attack on civilian have demonstrated that nothing is safe in this -world from the civil indoctrinated Islamic fundamentalists. Today it was J&K State Assembly, tomorrow it can be the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Today it was Pentagon, tomorrow it can be The White House .It can be AI-Qaida in America & Jaish-e-Mohammad in India or vice-versa. Now when the terrorists struck the very roots of America she is all set to use military force to end the Taliban regime in Afghanistan & destroy the network of Laden’s AI-Qaida. We should be aware of the fact that America will fight terrorism according to her own interests & strategies which may not be suiting to India. We may be mistaken if we feel that America will support us against Pak sponsored terrorism. The U.S. considers Pakistan as a friend. If you have such friends you don’t need enemies. Hence, We should be more vigilant. So India should act according to its own strategies to curb terrorism. This is the most precious & opportune time to act & to take the war against terrorism to its logical end. If this opportunity is lost, the nuclear power in Pakistan will come in the hands of more fundamentalist & lunatic forces & we will be watching helplessly at that time. The Mullah power will not even hesitate the use of biological weapons. Mr.G. Parthasarthy, the former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan is right- in saying that " Americans are planning Military strikes against terrorist bases wherever they exist. Does this not serve as an appropriate international precedent for us to act similarly when our own people & our cities are subject to terrorist outrages?"

Sanctions

Sir,

USA has lifted economic sanctions against India and Pakistan, which were imposed after the nuclear tests by the two arch rival countries. President Bush has emphatically stated that economic sanctions are no more withheld as it is not in their national interest.

Americans are known for their conspicuous National prejudices. They are in the habit of managing foolproof safeguards vis-a-vis their national interests even at the cost of the rest of the world. They have a bullying bent of mind.

Going deep into the genesis of terrorism does not have different colours. Its monstrous stature and growth is same. It operates against humanity.

There is no distinction between Jehad Terrorists active against India in J&K and other parts of India and the terrorists stricking at WTC and Pentagon. Similarly there is no difference between their patrons and harbourers and they have to be dealt on by the Indian Govt. must shun weakened policy. If USA attacks terrorist's camps and hide outs in Afghanistan, we should eliminate the same in POK once for all and liberate our territory. The entire nation is with the Govt. for this cause.
