Screening test of Net, slet students

Sir,

In the selection of candidates for the post of Lecturer in Education for (10+2) classes in Education Department Jammu, the Public Service Commission has decided to conduct its screening test for Slet (State Level Eligiblity test for lecturership) qualified students.

If candidates after qualifying Slet or NET test for lecturership have to again appear in screening test conducted by the commission, then what is the fun of Slet/Net certificate. This means U.G.C are joking with the Slet qualified students & the U.G.C are conducting these Slet or Net test for earning money. They are then misguiding the students.

If these Slet, Net certificates are not to be considered in the selection of lecturers, then please stop conducting these Slet, Net tests.

So, it is our request to PSC to consider Slet, Net qualification & exempt these students from appearing in the screening test to be conducted by PSC. These students therefore, need to be recruited directly.

Time to act

Sir,

The stunning Sept. 11, 2001, blast of World Trade Centre (W.T.C) and pentagon in New York and Washington has turned the wheel of International Politics and alignments into full circle pushing almost entire world in turmoil.

The supremacy of the Americans has been challenged. The wounded USA has launched a campaign to find out allies to fight against terrorism throughout the world.

However, the biggest success on the diplomatic front it met is bringing round of Pakistan, The champion of Terrorism into its fold. By doing so the USA has won 50 percent war against terrorism.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has been trapped in by the allurement of economic Package from the USA and its allies and easily bowed down before these pressure agreeing to permit the use of its Air-space and other land facilities to invade Afghanistan.

It is to remind Pakistan that during summit meeting at Agra it over-played the Kashmir Card and missed the opportunity to reach an agreement with India over Kashmir. On the other hand, Indian Premier Mr A B Vajpayee, however, provided General Musharraf a golden chance by inviting him to India for talks against many odds but the General failed to visualise the situation and to rise to the occasion. Since Pak is proud of its Nuke power and without brooking any fear to war from a soft India, it is pushing militants into the J&K State for the last more than one decade. Thousands of innocent people have been done to death and lakhs forced to migrate from the Valley during this period besides inflicting a loss of thousands of Crores to make Kashmir its own part.

Now, one blast at "WTC" has changed the entire scenario and out-look of the world. The issue of terrorism has come up on the top in the world which thousands blasts in India could not do, it speaks loudly lack of will and conviction on the part of Govt. of India.

The present situations is quite favourable to India as Pak is between the devil and the deepsea and has fallen in the American net., thus Kashmir is lucky to be out of Pak Net.

Indian initiative to extend support to USA is welcomed, so for the American change of heart about the terrorism is concerned America till now was playing politics over it while India was grappling this situation for the last 20 years. Now the oganisations like Human right under ground when minorities in the USA are under attack and being killed. They did not lag behind to condemn India, whenever, it took action against militants.

India as such need not wait that America or other foreign power would come to bombard the militants hide outs in Kashmir, neither we should call them. India must itself do it without depending on others for obvious reasons. It is time to strike as the iron is hot to root out militancy from Indian soil and restore normalcy in J&K and elsewhere.

Military support to US

Sir,

The recent devastating militants attacks on New York and Washington have not only caused death and destruction but also have shaken the very roots of civil liberty. The patriarch of freedom and human rights (US) has been compelled to think of curtailing to great extent, the vast freedom enjoyed by Americans in the US. The story of black Tuesday does not end here. Thick clouds of dust emanated from terrorists inflicted catastrophe have further engulfed the entire world followed by intense investigations to nab the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

After more than two weeks of tragedy, the US amid lack of soild evidences have finally made Bin Laden responsible for the carnage and is all set to launch military offensive against Taliban and Al-Qaeda cadre in Afghanistan to got Bin Laden dead or alive in the first phase or its world wide fight against terrorism. At this stage one can understand the US anger but the way in which US has resolved to tackle the situation i.e imposing a war upon the war revaged and draught hit Afghans seems not relevent in any way with the operation enduring freedom because for the misdeeds of a few entire Afghan population cannot be made scapegoat. But setting aside all this, the US inorder to execute its plans is busy in building its military might in Asia on a large scale and with extensive diplomatic parleys trying to win the favour of Muslim countries in the region. With every passing day this war like situation is getting grim as even the moderate Muslim world has been swayed by the demand that US must produce evidences regarding Bin Ladens involvement before taking any military action. Any action without proofs is being construed as war against Islam which is very dangerous phenomenon.

So amid such a fluid situation India must tread cautiously in extending any kind of military support to US, hardly matter there are people who are fuelled by the belief that it is an opportunity and India should give military help to US with a hope that terrorism in Kashmir would auotmatically die its own death These are all wrong head assumptions. The latest statements of US State Secretary Colin Powell on Chechenya that Russia cannot be rewarded in turn of Russia's cooperation in the present crises as Chechenya is a different case. Secondly black listing terrorist and other organisations but no mention of militants organisations engaged in Kashmir are the eye openers. We must keep in mind that whether it is US or west is least interested in ending the terrorism in Kashmir. It is a foreseen truth that US cannot sacrifice its trusted back door boy (Pak) for the pains of India. Terrorism in Kashmir has been unleashed by Pakistan and we must tackle it firmly and unitedly on our own that's the position a sovereign strong nation is expected to take. Instead of becoming an ally without US call India should wait and watch till UN comes out with some firm will to tackle this menace at would level. Jumping blindly can destabilise Indian economy which is already in the recession phase. Moreover we should not fail to understand that after all we are to live with our Muslim brethren countries in Asia who are main strength of our developing economy.

So the new architects of our foreign policy should ensure all these taking a cue from the statement of Henary Kisinger former US Foreign Secretary that countries who take part in such operations must remains ready to pay the price sooner or later 'win' or 'nowin' does not matter.
