SRINAGAR, Oct 1: As many as 31 people got killed and 70 others injured when militants caused a powerful blast at the main entrance of Jammu & Kashmir Legislature Complex and also stormed the highest guarded premises in the State. However, the suicidal strike —owned up by Maulana Masood Azhar’s Jaish-e-Mohammad —failed to achieve its objective as neither the Speaker of Assembly and Chairman of Council nor any ministers, legislators and senior Government officers were harmed. Both the Fidayeen were eliminated in a 6-hour-long gunbattle that destroyed the historic complex of the Upper House, on the left bank of river Jhelum, at the famous Raj Garh lawns in uptown..........more
